We should start off with a sunny, cool spring day for our John Rock hike. We will look for some fresh, spring flowers starting to come up.  Let’s meet at the Pisgah Forest Ranger Station parking area at 8:45 am, so we can leave by 9:00 am.

As I mentioned to those of you that were on the hike this last week I am planning a 6 mi hike on the AT starting at Carver’s Gap at Roan Mtn on 17 June to try to see the blooming of the Catawba Rhododendrons. This would involve an overnight stay at a B&B in Spruce Pine (prices per room run from $135 to $185 /night). I would like to get an idea of who would be seriously interested as the number of rooms is very limited.
